Medical Secretary for Psychiatric Emergency and Assessment Reception

The Psychiatric Clinic at Norrland University Hospital in Umeå is the largest psychiatric clinic in Norrland with over 400 employees. We have three general psychiatric wards, forensic psychiatric services, and several specialized outpatient and treatment units.

We are looking for a medical secretary for the Psychiatric Emergency and Assessment Reception, which is a multiprofessional reception where caregivers, administrators, nurses, social workers, psychologists, and doctors work together. The reception is a workplace where we actively work to use evidence-based methods in our work.

The reception consists of 3 different units – emergency reception, assessment reception, and SPOT (Specialized Psychiatric Care Team). Your placement will be in the assessment reception, which is the first level of care for patients seeking psychiatric help.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

As a medical secretary with us, you will have a central and significant role. You provide important service and enable interventions that affect many patients and colleagues. The work is varied, independent, and offers good opportunities for development.

You will collaborate with our secretary and other professional groups at the reception. Together, you form part of the reception's core staffing, where experience and competence are mixed in a way that creates a stable and developing work environment.

Job responsibilities include dictation writing, copying medical records, scanning, handling referrals, waiting lists, patient administration such as booking, coding, mail handling, scheduling (appointment book), archiving, and providing service to both patients and healthcare neighbors via 1177, phone, and direct contact. We work in the Cosmic journal system and also use several other IT systems.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who:

• Is an educated medical secretary or healthcare administrator.
• Can work independently and drive your work forward.
• Enjoys learning new things.

We prefer candidates with professional experience, primarily in healthcare administration, and familiarity with the Cosmic system.

Great importance will be placed on personal suitability.
